Every product that plugs into the public power grid has a responsibility to be a “good citizen.” If a device draws current in an uneven or disruptive way, it can create two major problems: harmonic distortion that pollutes the power supply for other devices, and voltage fluctuations that cause the annoying “flicker” in lighting. To protect the integrity of the power grid, European regulators have made flicker and harmonic testing a mandatory part of the CE Mark certification process.
Our Accredited Testing Process
Our expert team follows a meticulous, proven process to measure and validate your product’s compliance with the key power quality standards.
- Harmonic Current Emissions (IEC 61000-3-2): For products drawing up to 16A per phase, we use a specialized power analyzer to measure the harmonic currents your device generates. We then compare these measurements against the strict limits set by the standard for each class of equipment (Class A, B, C, D) to ensure compliance.
- Voltage Fluctuations & Flicker (IEC 61000-3-3): We test your product to ensure that any voltage changes or fluctuations it causes are within the acceptable limits defined by the standard. This guarantees it won’t cause perceptible flickering in lamps, a critical requirement for CE Marking.
- Accredited Reporting for CE Submission: You receive a comprehensive, accredited test report that clearly shows your product’s compliance. This report is the official documentation you need to complete your technical file for your EU Declaration of Conformity.
